The other day I went to Target looking to shift my (aspiring) simple closet a little bit. I wanted to give away a few fancy dresses that I never wear and find, in exchange, something casual & cotton that would make a little more sense with school. With rainy weather ahead, I wanted to find something that would dry quickly & work all year 'round by adding layers....you know the drill. Preferably with short sleeves and a slightly high waistline...for eating too much at brunch. Ideally with stripes.
And I did!

But. One catch.
It was in the kids' section.
Ha!
I bought it anyway, in size XL.
Here's the deal: It comes in this super cute stripe, gray polka dot, solid black & a funky floral pattern above. As for sizing: the L fit & I think works for an adult size 0 or 2. I went with the XL for some extra studying-slouchiness, and I think it works for a 4 or maybe 6. I bought the striped one. I love it. It is about $6.00 right now. It is pretty comfy with leggings and a sweater, and it is slightly more useful than an extra cocktail dress.
So. We can shop in the kids' section. In some ways this is a good find -- it is way cheaper over there! Buuuut I have to stop myself from overboarding on flowers & pink letterman jackets & sequins...Because they have all of those at Target right now. And tutus. They also have tutus.
Anyway, shopping in the kids' section is probably not the best idea in general, but right now at Target you can scoop up a cute day dress in small sizes. And if you think this is crazy...well, you are probably right!

haha! That's awesome! theres so much nice kids clothes these days, I often wish there were adult versions, or that I could fit into it! So, go you!!! haha
ReplyDeleteI bought the grey polka dot one. Perfect for post-Jazzercise socials, esp with my new grey Spanx tights from Oprah. Life is good. Thanks for keeping us all inspired.
